Baby Grand Pack and Move!

How do those huge (or not so huge) pianos fit through doors? Or how do they move about?

Here is a pictorial of how we moved this beautiful baby out of the showrrom.

  1. The first step would be to make sure the legs are secure. Then place a base board (shoey) to its left. (The side without the curve). You will have to to then have people hold the instrument and quickly loosen the from left leg. Also the lyre (pedal point). Some by unscrewing them and the older types are usually by turning the leg as it also acts as a large screw in itself. The lyre is usually screwd in and often has supporting pillars.

2. Tilt it and let it rest on the support board on its left. then you can carefully unscrew the other legs and check if marked so that the next time you put it together the right way. A this point cover the instrument with a cloth.

3.a. The piano is then fastened with the cloth on so that no damage gets to the piano body during packing or delivery.

3.b. Place the shoey or the base board on the trolley by first lifting the action side up while supporting the piano from all sides.

This way the trolley makes the work easier to move from place to place.

Well today there are various technologies that are being brought up on easier ways to move pianos. I.e the photo below of Klavier-Roller We will keep finding out better ways to carry out this task with a clean record of little to zero damages.

Another key note in moving insurance. Find a piano mover with piano moving insurance. This saves us (you and i) the worries...
